Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Purili is a self-hosted search engine that collects as little data as possible.
What we do not collect
- No search history tied to you, and no profiling.
- No advertising trackers, no selling data, no external analytics.
- No account needed to search.
What we store
- On your device: saved results, notes, and settings live in your browser. They only leave your device if you sign in and enable account sync.
- On our server: a daily search total (a date and a number, nothing else), site URLs you submit via the Add site form, and standard access logs (IP, path, timestamp) kept up to 7 days for security, then deleted.
Optional accounts
Accounts need only a username — no email, name, or phone number. Passphrases are hashed with Argon2id and cannot be read by us; passkey private keys stay on your device. Sync is off by default and synced data is stored encrypted. You can export or permanently delete your account at any time in Account settings. If you lose both your credentials and recovery key, the account cannot be recovered.
Third-party services
Your browser only ever talks to puri.li — no third-party scripts, fonts, trackers, or captchas. Optional features (Images, Maps, Weather, Translation, infocards) fetch external data through our server, so providers never see your IP address. Autocomplete never sends keystrokes to external services.
