Overview
Purili is a self-hosted search engine. By design, we collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we do and do not collect when you use puri.li.
What we do not collect
- We do not track your searches or build a search history tied to you.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.
- We do not create user accounts or require registration.
- We do not share any data with external analytics platforms.
What is stored locally
Search history and appearance preferences (theme, background) are stored only in your browser's local storage and cookies. They never leave your device unless you explicitly use the “Save to server” option in Settings, which stores your preference as a server-side cookie for cross-device consistency.
Server logs
Our web server may keep standard access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for up to 7 days for security and debugging purposes. These logs are not shared and are automatically deleted.
Third-party content
Favicons are loaded from Google's favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons). Wikipedia infocard data is fetched from the Wikipedia REST API and Wikidata. These requests are made from your browser directly. We recommend using a DNS resolver that does not log queries if this is a concern.
